By Keith Cook

Did you grow up hearing “go to school, get a good job, work hard and live off your retirement”? Are you currently one of the millions of unemployed workers in the US? In fact, it never carried much weight because that way of thinking has always been a poor man’s way of thinking.

Were you raised hearing that “It’s better to give than to receive”? I’ve always found this saying confusing. One, because it is extremely fun to receive. There are many benefits attributed to working with a life coach while battling cancer. Studies have shown that patients see improvements emotionally, mentally and even physically. A life coach works to help you set and reach specific goals through the integration of discipline, inspiration, motivation, education, physical activity, healthy eating, spirituality and encouragement.

One such study was published in the International Journal of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences by Dr. Mary Lou Galantino of Stockton College. Dr. Galantino’s study revealed improvements in cancer patients within their day-to-day lives including learning how to overcome anxiety and depression. Physical improvements were seen as a result of an increase in healthy food choices and physical activity through the use of various motivational techniques.
