So How’s That Working For You?

Freedom at your Fingertips

We’ve all had something to do and a certain time to do it by. That time came and went and now, we are playing caught up, running around like a chicken with its head cut off attempting to get things done. Like that school project or essay paper, or having the employee evaluations completed, or preparing the monthly audits, or planning a family gathering, or finding time to fix dinner at a decent hour, or having the house cleaned and ready for visitors during the holidays.

So why is it we put things off till the very end and scramble around frantically to get things in order? Is it poor planning? A lack of motivation? Afraid to succeed? Have you experienced so many disappointments, setbacks and failures that you just don’t care anymore? My parents were not as supportive as I would’ve liked them to be. Whatever excuse you give yourself, the fact remains that you are the reason things didn’t get done and you are the only one who can make things happen.

For some reason along our journey, we’ve developed the idea that we are not worthy of the pleasures and desires of life. I’m not worthy of a loving, caring and supportive partner. I don’t deserve to be full of joy, healthy, and surrounded by people who love me. I have abandonment issues and it’s hard for me to trust others. I’m afraid of getting hurt again, so I’ve decided not to get into anymore relationships, ever! It’s like we’ve entered a game and don’t know the rules. And most people get frustrated and leave the game.

It’s true, people get divorced, loved ones die, you lose all your money in investments, babies fall down and scrape their knees and elbows, business ventures fail, lovers cheat, attorney’s and politicians lie, shit happens, life happens, and the world still turns. Look at it this way; if you are alive, you have survived everything that has happened to you up to this point. That is something to be proud of and thankful for. Some people did not wake up this morning, but your blessings continue to flow and are bestowed upon you with each breath you take. Of the things you can control; the thoughts you think, the actions you take, and the images that cross you mind, it is time to stop blaming and start taking action. Do something, get a mentor, ask someone who can help you increase or make your current situation better. If you do nothing to overcome or move past where you are currently, your life will only change to remain the same.

I’ve recently read a book called Freedom at Your Fingertips. It introduces and explains a technique called tapping or EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique. It’s a procedure that has been around for thousands of years and one that you can administer on yourself anytime of the day as many times a day as you choose. EFT or tapping focuses on our bodies as an energy system. The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption or blockage in that energy system. These blocks include fears, phobias, anger, grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, worry, guilt, procrastination and other restricting emotions that also contribute to physical problems. When you clear the blockage using EFT, you have physical and emotional freedom.

EFT requires you to tap on pressure points or meridians that run throughout the body. I know this sounds weird and off the cuff, but stick with me. Once you attempt it and get results, you’ll not only feel more comfortable about EFT, you’ll be enthusiastic about it. EFT is a combination of tapping 7 areas on your face and body, while saying a setup phrase something like this: “Even though I think EFT is silly, I deeply and completely like and accept myself.” Here’s are more setup statements that deal with fears and phobias:

“Even though I have a fear of being hurt in a relationship, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
“Even thought I have a fear of being successful because I don’t want my friends and family to be jealous or envy me, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
“Even though I have abandonment issues, I deeply and completely like and accept myself.”

Take some time to educate yourself about EFT and come up with your own setup statements by first addressing the concern or problem you have and ending the statement with an accepting of self. I’ve shared this technique with countless clients that have experienced overwhelming breakthroughs, and they thank me continuously for suggesting it to them.

We are all doing the best we can with what we know at this stage of our life. Continue to seek out knowledge to increase and improve your life and ultimately the lives of others. We are all in training when it comes to living this life. Therefore, we can all benefit from each other.
