Cool Enough: The Three Best Ways To Build YOUR List!!

By Guest Blogger, Corey Jahnke

This was an amazing week for me! Author, Speaker, and Publisher Of “Success Magazine” Darren Hardy chose to mention me personally in a blog titled “Out Cool Your Competition”.

That was fun, but it wasn’t the amazing part! The amazing part was the incredible slew of positive comments from my friends agreeing with him and confirming that what he said was the honest truth. I was more than humbled by their comments. In fact I was moved to tears. Social proof and acceptance are things we all strive for every day of our lives and I received a lifetime supply in 24 hours.

I’d like to tell you that I was extremely lucky to have my moment in the sun, but I wasn’t. Luck had very little to do with it and it wouldn’t be fair to me, fair to you, or fair to my special friends to say that it did. What I was was strategic, specific, and extremely caring and concerned about the well-being of others.

Over the past two years I have developed an incredible list of friends, contacts, and partners and I want to share with you the three ways I was able to do so:

1) I added intention to my instincts~I love helping others and sharing their great works and creations with whomever I can wherever I can. I believe we are all here to make the world a better place. Therefore, I very strategically look for things others have done that adds value to my network and I share them as loudly and proudly as I can. This does two things: It presents me as a value adder to my network and it sends a message of positive reinforcement to the artist and cements my position as one of their supporters.

2) I am very specific in my praise and admiration~We are all managers of our relationships with other people. Great managers never generalize their complements. They don’t say: “Darren I like the work you are doing at Success Magazine”. Great managers say: “Darren I love the way you craft your interview questions. By asking great questions you allow an already fabulous guest to shine in the best possible light”. What this demonstrates to Darren is that I am honest and sincere in my comments, and that I am truly paying attention to what he does.

3) I really do care about someone else’s progress~The way I see it, when YOU win WE win. I keep my ego out of it and shoot for an overall improvement of my team and of the world as a whole. The next time someone makes an awesome Facebook or Twitter post, tell them how proud of them you are. Make a decision today to never again steal someone else’s thunder by responding to their awesome announcement with something that sounds like: “This is just like the time when I did something awesome”. This is THEIR moment! Celebrate it with them and they will accept your greatness. Steal it from them and they will plot your destruction.

I want for you a level of success that you never previously imagined possible! Put these three philosophies into action immediately and not only will your list of friends and partners grow in size, it will grow in impact exponentially!!

I have found that the answers to life’s most vexing questions don’t exist on Ask.com, YouTube, or Wikipedia, but reside within us. The Holy Grail, as it were, isn’t out there to be found, but lies within us, waiting to be discovered.
