7 Top Qualities – Secrets to Advanced Results

By Keith Cook

When you hear the word no, do you take it personally? Do you find yourself blaming others for the results you have in your life? Have you ever said the words, “I’m not good at selling or persuading others.” There are many people who feel the same way and say the same things. They become so confused and frustrated with not getting the benefit and security they deserve and they give up. What are some characteristics that will endure when times are really overwhelming to get advanced results?

Many of the top producers in every industry are aware that building rapport is easy and key to explosive profits and lasting relationships. Having the ability to connect with your client and speak their language is critical to attracting new and repeat business. This is true whether you are building friendships, door to door sales, or the CEO of a powerful Fortune 500 company.

Listed below are some shared qualities of top sellers. It is clear that most people can be top sellers if they are willing to pay the price of discipline and dedication, concentrate, measure and focus their performance. This discipline can work just as well in friendships, marriages, and between siblings to create joy and synergy, if desired.

No Means Next
If you live long enough, you will probably hear the word “no” your fair share of times. The best and most effective way top performers and successful people handle hearing the word “no” is to say “next.” It boils down to a numbers games. Get the “no’s” out of the way to make room for the yes’. This translates into more money for you. You do not take “no” personally or allow it to make you feel like a failure. Being in sales, in a relationship, or for that matter, simply interacting with others, requires you to discover and sustain levels of acceptance and self awareness. Although you may be put off, you are far from the point of no return.

Stop Blaming and Complaining

Quitters and losers complain. There are those among you that constantly look outwardly in order to find someone to place the blame for not having the results they desire in their life. They blame the economy, the President, the weather, their lack of education, their physical limitations, their parents, the neighborhood in which they grew up and the list goes on and on. In order to make the best of your current situation, it is vital that you take 100% responsibility for the results of your life. Successful people do just that. They take ownership for the results of their life and more importantly, they do something about it. Read books about personal growth and development, make an investment in yourself, hire a coach or mentor to support and assist you on your journey, find someone who is successful at doing what you want to do and copy them. Do something, other than nothing, blaming or complaining.

Desire on Fire

We’ve all heard the saying setbacks and failures are on the road to success. In knowing this, you must be dedicated, disciplined, and free to go be the best at what you do. All top sellers, peak performers, and successful people have an heightened ambition and desire to succeed. This is a benefit toward getting advanced results because it affects priorities and how you spend your time while working and away from your chosen profession.

See things From the Other side

Selling is talking about what the client wants, in their terms, and showing them how they can get it. To be effective at this, it’s imperative to see things from their perspective or point of view. You accomplish this by habitually putting yourself in the customers, spouses’, kids or siblings’ shoes, embrace their needs and concerns and respond appropriately.

Mental Discipline

Highly successful people have strong will power and when they set goals, they follow thru until it’s accomplished. Giving up is not an option. It’s important to have a clear vision of your end result. Embody the feelings, envision the surroundings, the smells, the people that will accompany the end result of your efforts. Always know what you are going after and how much progress you are making to keep distractions from sidetracking your progress. You have to be able to measure your progress so you are aware of what’s working and what needs to be adjusted.

Love Yourself

A stable mate to life-long loyal followers, repeat clients, a healthy marriage and open lines of communication between your kids and siblings is belief and trust of self. It all starts with you. Having an overwhelming love, respect and appreciation for self is an essential building block toward having the same characteristics for others. No matter what the temptation, successful people focus on serving and putting the customer’s needs first and gaining unwavering trust.

No one is a Stranger

I can attest to not wanting to approach someone I don’t know. But having the ability to approach strangers, even when it is uncomfortable can create powerful change in your life. This is another common trait that successful people share; doing what unsuccessful people won’t do. You have to get out of your comfort zone and do the things you fear until you fear them no more. All that you desire is outside of your comfort zone. If what you desired was a part of your comfort zone, you wouldn’t bitch and complain about not having what you want.

These are some common but powerful characteristics of highly successful people. You can just as easily incorporate any or all of these traits into your personality to assist you in becoming a higher version of self. The trick is that in mastering one of these qualities will inevitably lead to mastery of all of these.

I like the “No Means Next”. I never thought about it that way. I feel like I am one of those that tend to get upset or depressed if a door is closed, but maybe it just means that there’s something better waiting on the other side. Great blog!
