The Power of a Greeting Card

By Guest Blogger, Jerilyn McDonald

If you are in any type of business, you know the importance of client relationships!

Using greeting cards as part of your marketing strategy can give you a competitive edge you may or may not have considered. Traditional advertising and marketing tools, such as print ads, television, radio, direct mail, personal appearances, paid web clicks, newsletters and contests, can be expensive and time consuming, producing little or no return on your investment. Most business comes directly from relationships and often, business owners do little to stay in touch with the people who help them the most.

When new business comes from former clients, current clients, family, friends, colleagues, social media connections, networking contacts, and referrals from any of these, it usually comes from people we know. Creating a personalized greeting card marketing plan can help stay in touch and show gratitude in a unique way. Sometimes, it is the first time they ever receive appreciation for their business transaction. Often, they like the attention and feel special when recognized for their actions.

Greeting cards are an inexpensive and effective way to develop and keep important relationships in your life and your business. Remembering the small, yet important milestones in the lives of your clients will most likely put you at the top of their list when they consider buying again or referring you to others they know!

“The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.”
William James

Anyway that you can show the client appreciation, such as greeting cards, is a great idea. I know that I get surprised and delighted when I purchase a product and the seller puts in a little something extra. Such as a discount coupon for a next purchase or a little token of appreciation. It makes me feel like I am important and special to the seller.
