You Get What You Think About

By Keith Cook

We are surrounded by a predominance of negative energy, so it’s no wonder why many of us automatically think the worse when something doesn’t go as planned. Have you even stopped to think something better is on its’ way? If you can think the worst, there is an equal and opposite thought of thinking of a best outcome.

I recall on several occasions being told “we can’t afford that” or “that’s too expensive.” Over a period of time, that repetition, and conditioning, shaped my belief about money. So whenever someone talked about money, I automatically associated a negative thought, a feeling of lack or not having towards money. I conditioned myself to respond in a negative way, block or resist the idea of money.

As I began to read personal development books about wealth, I came to the realization, the mindset of lack and scarcity is what I could not afford. I spent so many years resisting the natural vibration of money and pushing it away in the process. I was wanting and desiring money and had become fixated on the not having money and by the law of attraction, getting what I was feeling about.

Have you ever saw an item that you wanted and it was in the possession of someone else? Did feelings of envy or jealousy enter your thoughts? Your desire or wanting for an item and your having negative feelings or desires toward another who has that item, are not on the same vibration or frequency. Your desires cancel each other out. Your desire, feelings and thought action must mirror each other. It’s impossible to focus on the not having or absence of having something and expect it to come into your life. That’s like saying “I want prosperity, love, good health, rewarding relationships, happiness, joy, and not being grateful when you see it in others. It’s the seeing it in others that lets you know it can be and is. We’ve all heard the old cliché, “seeing is believing.” If you can imagine, pretend, make believe, or act as if, that’s all you have to do. The next step is to expect it, believe it and allow it into your life by maintaining a frequency or vibration that mirrors what you want.

You get what you think about whether you want it or not. One of the most challenging things you will ever do is figuring out or deciding what you really want. Until you figure out what you want, you will continue to get mixed results, which can lead to disappointment, frustration, quitting, rage, and anger. So how do you figure out what you want? Start by saying to yourself, I want to know what I want. Start by honoring your simplest preference. Instead of saying, “it doesn’t matter,” or “whatever,” set an intention, that when you see something you like or that brings you joy, acknowledge it, give thanks for it, so more will show up in your life.

Get yourself a $100 bill and put it in your wallet. Go throughout your day and mentally spend the $100 dollars several times a day. Each time you acknowledge that you have the power right there in your wallet to purchase this or do that, over and over again, you add to your sense of financial well being and your point of attraction begins to shift. By doing so, you will receive the vibrational feeling of spending 2 or 3 thousand dollars. You do not actually have to be abundant in order to attract abundance, but you do have to feel abundant.

This is what is meant by using your feelings or allowing your inner guidance system to navigate through life. The law of attraction states that like attracts like. Like thoughts attract like thoughts. Like actions attract like actions, like emotions attract like emotions. So the more you think about what you do not want, by the law of attraction you will attract more of the same thoughts. You will attract more events, people, places and circumstances to keep bringing you lower and lower. If you find yourself on a downward spiral, stop thinking what you are thinking and put your thoughts upon something that will cause a shift in your thinking. Put your attention on feeling just a little bit better and by the law of attraction, you will receive thoughts that lift your feelings higher and higher.

Your work is deciding what you want in all areas of life; health, relationships, personal growth, giving back to the community, financial goals, business or career goals, free/family time.

There are only 3 things that we individually control; the thoughts we think, the way we act or react to any situation, and the images that cross our minds. There is no limit to what the universe will offer you. You do not have to stop all thoughts of lack and not having enough because they are going to creep in. You do have to allow or offer more thoughts and energy on the side of abundance. It’s the way you feel that is your point of attraction.

This is a great post, Keith. Having an attitude of gratitude is the key to having what your heart desires. Also, what you focus on is what is going to show up in your life. The key is to focus on the things that you want and not the things that you don’t want.

    Thanks for sharing.

One way I like to get in the alignment place of something is to think about it as if it’s a memory, as if it has already happened. By doing this, it becomes sort of part of my identity, and that creates a positive flow of energy toward my desire.
