How Successful People “Tip The Scales”

By Guest Blogger, Corey Jahnke

I wanted to tell you the story this morning about how I stayed up too late writing last night. I also wanted to let you know that the idea factory “kicked in” at 4:30am today. I wanted to include details on how I am just too tired to go for my walk, read for an hour, or write my blog, and about how I thought all I was really capable of today was to lie on the couch and listen to smooth jazz music. In short I wanted to tell you a story that would make you ask me if I wanted cheese with my whine!!

But then if I tell you that story I hear it as well and I begin to believe it. I begin to look for the violin player to “back up” my tale of how tough I have it.

I remember reading in Brian Tracy’s new book “Earn What You Are Really Worth” while on lunch yesterday about how successful people “get up a little earlier, work a little harder, and stay up a little later” on their quest to make their goals into realities.

It occurs to me that successful people understand that life is really about adding to the scales of our outcomes. We either add to the success side or to the failure side a little each day. The more we add to the success side, the more likely outcomes will eventually tip in our favor. As we continue to pile on our knowledge and skills one amazing day something magical happens. That day, the scales permanently lock in on the success side and all we have to do is work to keep them there.

I did take that walk this morning and on it I made a decision. I decided today that I don’t want cheese, whine, sympathy, or anything else that would reverse my momentum!! Going forward, I resolved to live out my major definite purpose which is to add value to others, encourage and inspire whomever I can whenever I can, and to create an unbelievable eulogy. I am determined to be tougher than a boiled owl because I know in my heart of hearts that other people are depending on me and the skills and abilities I have been fortunate enough to acquire. Those people deserve to receive the gifts that I have to offer and if I continue to tell stories that will keep my music within me, I would be stealing from them. And, that is simply unacceptable!

How tough will you be when it comes to sticking with your journey to become legendary?
