How an Act of Random Kindness Promotes Wealth

By Keith Cook

Have you recently found yourself in a financial slump? Do you find it difficult to connect with and establish a win win situation with people you just met? Does it seem like the walls are closing in on you and you have no place to go? Many people find themselves in these same situations due to their limited knowledge and personal beliefs – all the while, longing to experience love, importance, prosperity, health, and lasting relationships. Recently, I had a conversation with a friend that really embodied an act of random kindness and the law of reciprocity.

My friend Paul called me one day and told me that an angel walked into his restaurant. “I said, I’m intrigued. What do you mean by that?” He begin to tell me this story.

While he was working that day, an older gentlemen came into his restaurant. Paul said his appearance was very intimidating. He had a stocky build, braids in his hair, breathing heavily and sweating profusely. The older guy asked for directions and Paul put him on the path to his destination.

Paul stated about 40 minutes later the older gentlemen appeared in his restaurant again, only this time, he asked for a bite to eat. He stated he just left the doctors office and needed to get something to eat because his sugar was low. It just so happened that the cook of the restaurant was married to someone with type 1 diabetes and knew exactly what the older gentleman needed.

So the cook put some food and juice together for the older man and took it out to him. He sat and talked to the older gentlemen until he regained his strength.

The older gentlemen asked Paul who the owner of the restaurant was. Paul said me. The older gentlemen called Paul over so he could thank him for his hospitality. The older gentlemen said, “thank you very much for what you did. Your employee made me feel special.” Paul graciously accepted his gratitude. The older gentlemen went on to say, “no really, thank you very much for your attention and kindness.” Paul, once again said thank you.

All of a sudden the older gentlemen started throwing up Gang signs. He asked Paul, “do you know what these signs are?” Paul said yes, they are gang signs for the Crips. The older gentlemen said, “you are right”. I used to be a member of the Crips and I used to hurt people, a lot. But as I got older, I got more enjoyment out of helping people, than hurting them. So that’s what I do, I go around and provide random acts of kindness for people. And since you helped me, I’m going to help you.

The older gentlemen asked Paul, do you know what I do? Paul said no. The older gentlemen stated, I’m a farmer. I have 3 farms outside the city limits. And I’m going to sell you your fruits, vegetables and produce, at a third of the cost you’re paying now. Not only that, I will deliver them to you. I have accounts with 6 stores in town, and I’ll just put you on the delivery list, so you don’t have to drive an hour and a half outside the city limits.

Paul told me that paying a 3rd for his fruits, vegetables and produce would triple his profits.

Treat everyone you meet with importance. You can’t measure how far an act of random kindness will go. Just 15 minutes of attention, giving love, significance, and importance first, enabled Paul to receive the same in return, 3 times fold. There really is something to being what you want to receive.
