Why Do Bad Things Happen To Me?

By Guest Blogger, Ashley Dais

My client came to me the other day and said, “why can’t I get a break, why do bad things keep happening to me?” I explained to him that his thoughts of, “bad things always happening to me,” creates his reality of bad things actually happening to him.

When there is a strong belief about the way your life or personal state of being is not progressing, such as thoughts or beliefs of, “I am not good enough…No one cares about me…I can’t seem to ever be in a good relationship…I’ll never be happy…” It is the brains job to go to great lengths to make what you believe about yourself and situations to be true.

Your brain will make you believe these thoughts in 3 types of ways:

1. You will only be attracted to what you believe
a. I can’t do anything right
b. No one cares
c. You always fail
d. Can’t get out of debt

You will knowingly or unknowingly sabotage things when they go right. You will knowingly or unknowingly find yourself around people who don’t care. You will set yourself up for failure, and continue to dig deeper into debt.

Instead of being open and making your belief the opposite of how you felt in past situations, you allow your emotions to take over your thoughts which creates a false belief system in the brain about how you should look at your life/situations

2. You will be overly sensitive to any signs or observations
a. You will begin to look for down falls, reasons, excuses to support this belief system you have created in your mind about yourself and your life and you will find them
b. Ever hear you find what you are looking for? That is what happens to help support this false belief

3. You will not notice but you will self-sabotage
a. Because your brain is seeking gratification to say “see, I am right, you are stupid, no one does care, I am a failure, etc… you will find yourself consistently doing things to push it into existence unconsciously.

Ask yourself, why do I believe this about myself?

The answer, every time will be to feel secure, safe, because your past experiences have brought you to believe this core belief about yourself.

Don’t focus your how you feel about this belief, just evaluate the affect it has on your life and be honest with yourself, because ultimately the ability to change lies with you becoming in tuned with your awareness.

Think about these questions:
·Does the way you think hurt/hinder you from getting what you truly want out of life?
·Is it helping me achieve what I desire out of life?

As long as you continue to latch on to beliefs that are harmful to your state of being and self-fulfillment, these negative cycles will happen over and over again.

Awareness is the first step to changing those core beliefs that are causing those “stuck” moments in your life or your “stuck syndrome.”

This is only the tip of the ice berg when tuning into ourselves and making changes. Self-evaluation, balancing emotions and thoughts, and using patience are going to be your keys when making it through your transitions.

If some uncertainties about your core beliefs have come to surface, it’s time to face them and take charge by leaping off the couch working toward restructuring your life!
