What if success were simply a four part process? (Part 4 of 5)
By Guest Blogger, Corey Jahnke
In the introduction to my four part success formula, What if success were simply a four part process? (Part 1 of 5), I discussed how difficult it truly is to get your mind wrapped around the concept that you really are never stuck in life, but to become successful in getting unstuck it is vital to keep it simple. I knew that if I was ever going to make the journey from moldy piece of cheese to having a remarkable life I had to make the process as elementary as possible. I choose to focus on four things.
Those 4 things being:
- Part One: What is the mindset that I have to develop?
- Part Two: How do I have to present myself?
- Part Three: How do I find a unique opportunity?
- Part Four: How do I MAXIMIZE my opportunities?
Once we’ve created a laser focused mindset and carefully determined how to present ourselves, everything else comes down to the opportunities that we find, and what we do to maximize them.
Part Three: How do I find a unique opportunity?
Can I start my own business?
Starting one’s own business is amazingly simple these days because the internet makes having a world presence unbelievably inexpensive and simple to do. What is difficult however is committing to a unique idea and finding the time to implement it. Here’s the trick: You have to set REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS!
When we think about starting a new business adventure our brain gallivants off into the fantasyland of becoming the next Sam Walton or Ray Kroc (The founders of Wal-Mart and McDonald’s respectively). While it is true that the most likely way to become phenomenally wealthy is to start a business, what is also very true is it usually takes an amazing amount of hard work and many years, failures, and sacrifices to create that wealth. Is it worth it? It certainly can be. What we must keep in mind is that any business starts with building a solid foundation wrapped around a commitment to excellence. Can YOU do that? Of course!! Here’s what Brian Tracy says about starting a business: ”If you have the opportunity to start your own business and you do not take that opportunity you are a fool!”
Can I franchise?
Franchising can be an amazingly smart way to get involved with a solid business plan and and with incredible people who can support your efforts. Franchising an established business idea is interesting because if you study franchising you will learn that there are more types of businesses to franchise than you ever imagined. Some at very little cost. However some opportunities may be out of your current financial reach and many people make the mistake of mismatching their chosen franchise with either their personal interests or the needs of their chosen market. Franchising can be a solid road to wealth but must be researched very carefully.
Can I invent something?
Thomas Edison and Henry Ford died as two of the wealthiest men in American history. They were able to create something new that filled a need. Ask yourself: ”What can I do to fill a need that people have?” Many of the most successful inventions have been simple things that someone just like you thought of and brought to market. Refuse to set limits on yourself. I know you believe that you are no Thomas Edison, but Thomas Edison was no YOU either. What do you see that no one else sees? Are you afraid that people will laugh at your invention? They will. Many people laughed at Edison’s dictaphone until one of his key salesmen made it a multi-million seller. Refuse to place limits on yourself and your ideas. Take a chance. Who knows what might happen?
Can I find a unique opportunity?
Great motivational author and speaker Jim Rohn became a guru in the motivational speaker in the business world by catapulting himself from “cow milker” to multi-millionaire using the vehicle of direct sales or multi-level marketing (MLM). Today there are a myriad of opportunities to create wealth in direct sales with very little MONETARY investment on your part. Many people have become amazingly successful using MLM as a vehicle for wealth creation, but make no mistake these people have worked VERY HARD to do so. Direct sales may just be for you, but to make it work you MUST treat it as a business that you have investing in just as any other business, hone your skills, and create a system for success.
The common denominator is that opportunities abound. But few people maximize those opportunities because they fail to recognize the work, commitment, and persistence required to make an opportunity into an incredible success. In part 5 we will talk about how to do just that through the creation of HOPE (Having On Purpose Expectations) and developing tenacious persistence. Thank you for sharing the basic ways to find opportunities. Each will take some time and research so persistence is the key as is to all of life dreams. We have so much control over our life if we just keep our goal/dream in the front of us and take small steps everyday towards our goal. Thanks for another great post.
